Our client, a globally recognized premium fashion retailer, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join their Menswear team. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring designer to work across seasonal collections in a fast-paced, high-aesthetic environment. You will support the design process from initial concept through to final buy, collaborating closely with Senior Designers, Product Development, and Technical teams to bring modern, sophisticated menswear to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collection Development: Support the design of seasonal ranges across jersey, lounge, hybrid, and collaboration categories.
  • Technical Design: Create high-quality CADs, detailed sketches, and comprehensive technical specification packs for factory production.
  • Sample & Fabric Management: Manage the seasonal fabric archive, track samples, and coordinate lab dips to ensure all materials align with the critical path.
  • Sourcing & Research: Conduct trend and market research to inform concept boards; assist in fabric selection that meets both design vision and budget requirements.
  • Fit & Quality: Attend fit sessions and block reviews, working with the Technical team to ensure designs translate accurately from sketch to garment.
  • Presentation: Present research, concepts, and CADs to Senior Design leadership and internal stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: Proven experience in a menswear design role, ideally within a premium or contemporary retail head office.
  • Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong hand‑sketching and CAD abilities.
  • Brand Alignment: A deep understanding of modern menswear aesthetics and a passion for clean, sophisticated design.
  • Operational Excellence: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and technical specs with precision.
  • Collaboration: A proactive team player who is eager to learn, contribute creative ideas, and build relationships with mills and suppliers.
