We are looking for a Deputy General Manager / Operations Manager to join our multi-award-winning hotel & pub, The Bull Organic Inn, located in the fabulous town of Totnes in Devon.

The Deputy GM / Operations Manager will help hold the whole business together — standards, culture, people, commercial performance and the thousand details that make us who we are. This is not just an operational role; it is a leadership role rooted in stewardship.

You are expected to have a strong grasp of how the business works commercially — where value is created, where margins are won or lost, where costs leak and where stronger decisions can make a real difference. Budgeting, planning and commercial awareness are not separate from operations; they are part of running the place properly.

This role helps shape the culture of the business every day. At the Bull, that means nurturing a place of learning, collaboration, challenge and care — where people are engaged, standards matter and development is part of the rhythm of work, not an occasional event.

You are expected to coach, question, support and bring people with you. You will help build a culture where discussion is healthy, feedback is normal, kindness is non-negotiable and development is expected. Build strong teams, not dependency. Grow people and grow performance. Those things are not in competition.

You are also a guardian of good practice. Health and safety, food safety and due diligence are not side duties — they are part of everyday professionalism. This role carries active oversight of those systems and responsibility for embedding them into daily habits across kitchen and front of house alike.

Commercially, culturally and operationally, you are expected to help make the business stronger over time — protecting standards, improving systems, developing people and making sound decisions that support long-term health, not short-term fixes.

Full-time Salary 35 -37 plus Tronc of Approx 5-6k pa + benefits.
