We’re looking for experienced Front of House supervisors to join our team at the Bugle Hotel in Yarmouth. The Bugle is a family owned 9 bedroom 16th century coaching inn, set in the main square of Yarmouth, and boasts over 300 seats throughout with large gardens and external bars & kitchens. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Bar Supervisor to support daily bar operations at our busy family-owned pub. You’ll help lead both the internal main bar and our seasonal outside bar (open during peak months), ensuring excellent service, smooth teamwork, and a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support bar staff during shifts across both indoor and outdoor bars
- Lead by example with excellent customer service
- Assist with opening/closing procedures for both bars, including seasonal set-up and breakdown of the outside bar
- Train, coach, and develop bar team members
- Ensure the pub operates in line with licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene standards
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of both bar areas
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, inventory, and waste management
- Support cash handling and daily takings reconciliation
- Monitor staff performance and ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Flexibly cover shifts according to seasonal demand
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a bar or hospitality supervisory role
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Good knowledge of drinks service and bar operations
- Able to work under pressure, especially during peak tourist season
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and seasonal peak times
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Hospitality/food & beverage qualification
- Personal License holder (or willingness to obtain one)
- Food safety/hygiene certification
