Main duties of the job:

  • Check and record medical supplies on delivery.
  • Monitor loan of medical equipment to patients (e.g. blood pressure monitors).
  • Use the Practice Clinical System for patient searches, clinic visits and patient recall while adhering to Information Governance Regulations.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition, ensuring standard procedures such as calibration are completed.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels in treatment rooms, fridges and cupboards.
  • Provide and help manage a caring, empathic and professional treatment service to patients and the practice team.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and privacy when handling sensitive information and adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by GPs or Managers.

Job responsibilities:

  • Adhere to health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, manual and Infection Control policy.
  • Use systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines.
  • Manage specimens safely, including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport.
  • Observe current working practices across the practice in relation to infection control and cleanliness, ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Update knowledge and skills through effective use of training.
  • Manage sharps safely, including training, correct use, storage and disposal.
  • Maintain work areas tidy, clean, sterile and safe; initiate remedial action where needed.
  • Identify, report and correct health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately.
  • Handle waste management, including collection, segregation, container management and storage.
  • Control spillage and decontamination procedures, and maintain sterile environments.
