Role Overview

The Brittons Academy wishes to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and high-calibre HLTA who will be committed to supporting students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability). The successful candidate will be a practitioner who is committed to helping students achieve their best academically as well as socially.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience of working with children with complex needs is essential
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification is required
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to adapt or modify interactions to meet pupil needs
  • Ability to summarise and present information from observations of pupil performance
  • Effective time management, planning and collaboration
  • Ability to provide a structured activity within a group setting
  • Knowledge of group dynamics and how to apply them
  • Obtain and interpret information on pupils’ literacy/numeracy skills, individual learning targets and specific support needs
  • Ability to recognise the range and implications of factors that impact pupil behaviour
  • Minimum GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
