Project Curator: Sudan and Nubia
Egypt and Sudan
Full-time (41 hours per week)
Fixed term (6 months maternity cover, with the possibility of extension)
£35,165 per annum

About the role:
To undertake research into, document, and make publicly accessible the Nile valley collections, particularly archaeological collections from Sudan and Nubia, in support of the Museum’s masterplan, the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies. To improve their accessibility via the Museum’s digital online platforms.
Key areas of responsibility:
- To lead on researching and upgrading the documentation of the Nile valley archaeological and research collections, particularly the Klemm stone quarries assemblages and Qasr Ibrim collection
- To make the collection, and knowledge about it, publicly accessible via digital platforms and publication
- To support storage projects on- and off-site
- To participate in the Museum’s public programme, delivering talks, seminars, lectures, participating in and organizing conferences and seminars and broadcasts
- To have or develop a good understanding of museums and relevant best practice
About you:
- BA/BSc (or equivalent) in relevant subject
- Experience of documentation
- Some expertise in the archaeology of the Nile valley, Nubia and Sudan
- Some experience of working with a relevant collection, museum documentation and museum databases
- Some experience of management issues (people, projects, budgets) (desirable)
