Head of Sponsorship and Client Experience – The British Museum – Location: London – Salary: cΒ£80,000

The British Museum is seeking an exceptional commercial and relationship building leader to become its new Head of Sponsorship and Client Experience.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of one of the world's most renowned museums as it embarks on the most significant transformation in its nearly 300-year history.

Responsible for corporate partnerships, events and commercial hire, you will lead a high-performing team focused on creating outstanding experiences, securing transformational sponsorships and building strategic relationships with global brands.

The Opportunity

As Head of Sponsorship and Client Experience, you will develop and deliver an ambitious growth strategy that maximises sponsorship income, enhances client engagement and unlocks the full potential of the Museum's extraordinary estate.

You will be the senior ambassador for key corporate partners, cultivating long term, high-value relationships while ensuring every event, activation and partnership experience reflects the exceptional quality, reputation and cultural significance of the British Museum.

Working closely with senior leadership, trustees, curatorial teams and development colleagues, you will play a critical role in aligning commercial opportunities with the Museum's mission, global profile and future ambitions.

About You

You are a commercially astute and inspiring leader with a proven track record of securing and growing high-value partnerships.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience developing corporate partnerships and delivering exceptional client experiences.
  • A demonstrable record of closing major sponsorship deals and managing substantial partnership portfolios.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pipeline management and income forecasting.
  • Experience leading and motivating high-performing teams within complex organisations.
  • Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • The credibility to engage with senior stakeholders, corporate executives and high-profile supporters.
  • Experience within the cultural, heritage, arts or museum sector would be advantageous, as would exposure to major fundraising or capital campaigns.
