About the role

To photograph, edit and make publicly accessible images of the Greece and Rome collection in support of the Museum’s Masterplan, the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies. To improve accessibility of the collection via the Museum’s digital online platforms. To produce digital photographic images and help document objects, to process images by matching them to MI+ collections management database records, and to upload them to the Museum’s image asset management system.

Key responsibilities

  • To produce standard digital images of the Greece and Rome collection.
  • To process images including standardising backgrounds, and pairing obverse and reverse files using established automated batch processes.
  • To ensure images are labelled with their MI+ PRN identifier to enable bulk upload to the asset database.
  • To liaise with IS staff over the bulk upload of images.
  • To identify any issues with the MI+ records of the imaged objects and to work with curators and other staff to correct problems.
  • To support upgrading the documentation of Greek and Roman objects in the collection in liaison with curators.

About you

  • Experience of collections and digital asset management databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop software.
  • Experience with photographic documentation.
  • Some experience of working with a relevant collection, museum documentation and museum database.
  • Open, effective communicator with good spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Remuneration and contract

  • Part-time (18 hours per week)
  • Fixed term (20 months)
  • Salary: £29,642 per annum (£14,821 pro-rated)
