An Electronics Engineer is sought. This is predominantly a developmental role in which development of new equipment is the main task, but some support of legacy equipment is required. The ideal candidate will be an experienced electronics engineer who can work on their own initiative and is happy to impart their knowledge and experience to less experienced members of the company. The successful candidate will be comfortable producing high-quality work whilst working under pressure.
The company is a leading non‑destructive testing (NDT) company specialising in the design and development of advanced automated ultrasonic inspection solutions, supporting its worldwide NDT field service division. Projects typically range from bespoke remotely operated vehicle (ROV)/diver‑deployed automated inspections to topside remotely operated inspections. The working environment is both exciting and satisfying, with ample opportunities to learn and progress.
Key Responsibilities- Development and assembly of new equipment, consisting of:
- Printed circuit board (PCB) design and manufacture
- Fault‑finding at system and component level
- Cable design and assembly
- System design
- Firmware development
- PCB assembly and testing
- Systems assembly and testing
- Redesigning for parts obsolescence
- Incremental developments.
- Good understanding of:
- Electronics theory
- Motor drives and encoders
- PCB design for noise suppression
- Firmware development in C
- Wired communications
- RS‑485
- Ethernet: knowledge of wiring standards and general networking are required
- DMM, scope, signal generator
- Through‑hole technology and surface‑mount technology
- Rework
- Prior experience using the following software packages:
- Proteus
- MPLAB
- TeraTerm
