Disney’s The Lion King is looking for an Assistant Automation. This upcoming role is an opportunity for a keen and motivated individual to join the Automation department on a fixed-term basis. Working with the Head and Deputy Head of Automation, and local crew, this staff member will help with the day to day of running a large-scale musical to maintain the excellence of the show.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation, liaising between the Company Manager, Technical departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.
- Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
- Perform daily setup, oversee automation rig checks and provide clear communication within the Automation team.
- Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
- Operate the show automation for performances, replicating the show’s design.
- Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
- Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation, to ensure all Automation equipment is maintained so it is in working order for each performance.
- Maintain the quality of the show as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head of Automation, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.
- Report and feedback show and staff-related issues promptly.
- Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain an excellent working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices and liaise closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed.
Skills Required
- Experience working with Automation within the entertainment sector (Theatre/Rock and Roll or Television/Film), experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of setting up, maintaining and operating of Automation systems including electronics, electric motors, winches, manual and automated rigging devices is highly desirable.
- Experience in the operation of computerised automation control equipment is highly desirable.
- Experience of STS Silicon Theatre Scenery controlled Automation systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to work at height.
