Overview

BAT UK is looking for a Finance Business Partner to support the GLP group as part of the Finance function.

Role is fixed term until 1/07/2028, based in Southampton, United Kingdom.

Role summary

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

This role is a key member of the GLP team, partnering with the Business to consider financial implications, leading the Annual Transfer Price calculation, and building a key control environment enabling the Business to sign off on all relevant controls.

Responsible for preparation of GLP Group and Statutory reporting, including key accounting processes to ensure integrity of financial documents and accuracy of related transactions, as well as budgeting processes and the preparation of financial and non-financial information to aid decision making.

  • Role duties and accountabilities
  • Ownership of Control Navigator, ensuring timely completion across the Business.
  • Business Partnering across the Demand and Supply Teams to ensure ongoing leaf supply and understanding of the Transfer Price process and impacts.
  • Performs month end quarterly close, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial information and investigation of variances.
  • Ensures robust budgeting processes and challenge where necessary.
  • Responsible for the completion of SOX Controls and liaison with audit teams in review and testing of these controls.
  • Provides insightful financial analysis showing financial implications of decisions and assists the business unit with approvals for commercially viable cases, budgets and investment proposals.
  • Builds financial and commercial awareness within supported areas and challenges business managers to improve performance.
  • Drives continuous improvement across the team to ensure processes and ways of working are fit for purpose.

Experience, skills, knowledge

ESSENTIAL

Experience Required

  • Solid understanding of SOX including development, implementation and execution of control environments.
  • Experience dealing with auditors and external partners.
  • Proven experience in strategic analysis & planning and execution, performance measurements, project evaluation and commercial competence.
  • Experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment.
  • Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant finance systems (e. g., SAP / BPC).
  • Able to influence and challenge more senior partners.
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and communicate and present information clearly.
  • Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, proactive, collaborative and consultative.

Education / Professional Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Degree educated or relevant professional qualification with at least 5 years’ relevant finance experience encompassing finance business partnering or financial accounting and reporting.

  • Experience in US GAAP reporting is advantageous given upcoming requirements in GLP.
