British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Finance Manager in London. This role will report to the Group Statutory Reporting Controller and support Treasury in the Group’s execution and readiness for the implementation of process change and accounting/compliance developments across the Group’s three listing territories: UK, U.S. and South Africa. The role will focus on assessment, implementation and execution of process change with specific focus on treasury products and financial reporting (net finance costs and leverage).
Responsibilities
- Accounting Developments – supporting the reporting developments team accounting lead, on derivatives and hedging, to impact assess future accounting and compliance developments on existing operational processes and documentation, focusing on Fair Value, Cash Flow and Net Investment Hedging.
- Documentation – implementing changes to documentation and documenting process/control changes to meet compliance aligning with internal stakeholders such as Group Reporting, Global Treasury Operations, Information Technology and Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Systems – Defining the business requirements for future compliance both tactical and strategic.
- Treasury Processes – Reviewing Treasury processes alongside compliance requirements and producing an impact assessment, implementation plan and resource assessment.
- Stakeholders – Reviewing and impact assessing information flows to Current and Potential Treasury stakeholders as a result of potential future compliance. Supporting design and compliance of the SOX controls relevant to Treasury. Responding to end market requests for accounting advice and support. Preparation of policy updates to incorporate changes in process and responsible for timely communication to stakeholders impacted. Liaising with internal stakeholders such as Group Statutory Reporting Team, Group Treasury Operations, Tax team, Legal team, Financial Planning & Analysis, auditors to ensure smooth running of day-to-day activities.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Group Statutory Reporting Controller or the Head of Financial Risk.
Qualifications
- Degree educated with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA).
- A good understanding of group and corporate finance principles/experience and ability to deliver commercial insights in a rapidly evolving area of the business.
- A good understanding and experience with treasury instruments and processes (e.g. Derivatives, hedge accounting, factoring and supply chain finance).
- Appreciation of taxation consequences as part of financial reporting would be useful – not essential.
- Ability to manage a high volume of data and present in a simple, innovative and impactful way using all current systems to simplify and automate information management (i.e. SAP/ BI/BPC/CFIN).
- BPC/SAP/CFIN experience.
- Possesses good understanding of IFRS standards and U.S. GAAP relevant to treasury accounting for a multinational company (Latter is a strong plus but not essential, can be taught).
- Ability to prioritise and is resilient.
- Ability to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions.
- Ability to work independently managing stakeholders across a wide range of locations.
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required to influence and challenge.
- Maintains excellent working relationships with all stakeholders and is a team player.
