British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Controller in London. The Finance Controller leads the finance operations and activities in partnership with the business to:
- Translate Business strategies into plans and budgets (both Opex and Capex)
- Manage and coordinate the provision of structured and insightful financial analysis to influence and enable high-quality and evidence-based decision making by the Digital & Business Solutions Leadership Team
- Provide commercial insights related to performance against Business plans
- Build strong financial and commercial awareness within Business areas supported
- Challenge the Wows and deliver Business objectives through a continuous improvement mentality
- Provide leadership to a DBS Finance team of 20+ HC
- Define and implement simple governance guidelines and practical procedures to strengthen financial controls / processes
- Lead or contribute to occasional ad hoc projects
- Foster a high performing culture, by building and leading a motivated team effectively using insights driven from regular team interaction as well as YV driven inputs
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Engagement / Proactive Solutioning / Partnership / financial insights to IDT Management
- Management of Capex / Opex, including Co-Plan, SOP cycles and consequent delivery OTIF
- Support and facilitate approvals of Investment Appraisal / Business Cases for new Investments / Projects
- Support Center Procurement in renewal of existing contracts and award of new contracts during Tender process
- Support the Head of Commercial Finance DBS with any consolidation related assignments regarding the overall DBS business unit
- Provide the due support to the Senior Finance Manager – DBS in KL to ensure Recharges are accurately calculated and any upcoming changes are timely anticipated and communicated for critical issue / workings maintained for relevant business areas being partnered by this position
- Manage the full GTnT budget, providing visibility of Ops and IDT budgets (Capex + Opex)
- Ensure funding and implementation costs for functional initiatives are aligned between Functions, Centre and EM’s
- Create a high-performance culture that drives value through employee engagement and successfully meets all strategic objectives, keeping people motivation and resilience at the core
- Development of Talent pipeline and driving Finance People Agenda by recruiting, developing and managing a highly motivated, capable and adequately resourced team
- Support and compliance with all Governance requirements (DOA, Internal Controls, Internal / External Audit, Intangible Asset Capitalization, Impairment etc.)
- Drive an organized culture of spend governance and efficiency among the DBSLT and their teams
- Drive / Participate in Adhoc projects from time-to-time, recent examples being facilitating Finance OD Change project (final OD locked in Q1’25)
What are we looking for:
ESSENTIAL Experience Required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance function of Global FMCG, or similar dynamic environment
- Proven experience leading diverse Teams
- Strong Experience of taking decisions under ambiguous circumstances
- Track record of proven value-addition to business through process, and people interventions
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
- Ability to present data‑driven facts as a story with superior articulation and clarity
- Ability to simplify sophisticated situations and synthesize and present complex information in simple terms
- Capacity to build a strategy and adapt quickly
- Master project planning and execution through people
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
- Transformative mentality / change‑savvy, keeping collaboration and consultation at heart of driving change
- Strong interpersonal Skills – ability to build relationships, influence team members with divergent priorities

- Independent, pro‑active / self‑starter, and is able to take own decisions, taking calculated risks
- Ability to multi‑task and deliver quality output under pressure
- Deliver on tight timelines, while keeping the Team motivated
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Power‑point is a must
Education
- Masters (or equivalent) in Accounting / Finance / Business Management, or ACCA / CA / CIMA / CFA (or other similar qualification)
