SALARY: GRADE 4 POINT 8, £26,274.99 (FTE £30,717.00)
Hours: 36 HOURS PER WEEK / 39 weeks per year

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Assistant Head of Year, to support learning and improvement, whilst promoting the welfare of pupils within the Year Group.
Core Duties:
- To assist in the operation of the day to day management of pupils;
- To assist in ensuring that high standards of behaviour and high levels of achievement are maintained throughout the year group;
- To promote a secure, purposeful and friendly working environment for pupils and staff;
- To encourage pupils to contribute positively to the wider life of Shirley High School;
- To promote the inclusion and equalities agenda;
- To promote the whole school pastoral ethos of entitlement and inclusion;
- To support the Head of Year in promoting an inclusive environment where every pupil matters and support a high quality of pastoral care and pupil support in the year group;
- To support the Head of Year in establishing and fostering a strong and supportive identity among the tutors and pupils of the year group;
- To support school policies related to the pastoral system and to develop a positive ethos within the year group;
- To support school assemblies and encourage tutors and pupils to do likewise;
- To support in the encouragement of achievement and enjoyment in the year group;
- To be a good role model.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is enthusiastic and dedicated, with a keen duty of care for all pupils within the school;
- Has good pastoral and safeguarding knowledge with the ability to relate well to pupils;
- Can work independently and constructively as part of a team;
- Has an understanding of the necessity to maintain confidentiality;
- Is resourceful and innovative;
- Possesses first-rate communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate with staff, parents/carers and pupils.
