The Bristol Port Company is the UKs premier car handling port, currently managing a throughput of approximately 650,000 vehicles per year. We have achieved this leading position through our commitment to delivering high-quality service, supported by a dedicated and skilled workforce.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our team with permanent Car Trade Operatives whose principal focus will be supporting our car trade operations, while also assisting across other port activities when required.
Car Trade Operative The Role:
The basic working month will be 169.5 hours, which will be worked in any combination of the comprehensive range of shift patterns which operate at the Port, and which are varied from time to time in order to meet changing requirements.Shifts operate over 24 hours per day and seven days per week.
Shifts may be ordered, in any combination, over 7 days, at the Companys option; thus rest days may fall on any day of the week.Overtime payments will be made after 169.5 hours per month have been worked.Overtime will be paid at time plus one quarter for the first 24 hours in any month and at the rate of time plus one half thereafter.

β Driving motor vehicles on and off vessels and between compounds
β Lashing and unlashing vehicles
β Marshalling drivers within operational areas
β Monitoring and maintaining quality standards
β There will also be opportunities to gain experience working across other port trades

β You must be physically fit as the role will involve long periods of walking and some manual heavy lifting
β Project a positive, enthusiastic attitude
β Able to demonstrate a highly developed awareness of our customers quality requirements
β Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
