Our story:
The Bridge Columbus is a special school in Chelmsford, Essex. The school is on an improvement trajectory following some challenging times. This improvement has already started and we are looking for someone to contribute further to this work. The school caters for approximately 300 pupils with cognition and learning difficulties, and autism. As a school, we work with children, their families and other professionals within education, health, and care to support our children and young people to have a successful journey through their education. The school is based on two sites which are closely located. The school site caters for primary pupils and the secondary site caters for secondary pupils.

The Bridge Trust is a unique Multi Academy Trust which consists of seven special schools, two primary schools, a Training & Development Service and an Outreach Service. We are an ambitious family of schools that embraces the individuality of everyone β children and adults.
We are recruiting for a Deputy Headteacher whose main responsibilities will include:
- Teaching, learning and curriculum development
- Admissions
- Staffing
- ECTs/ITTs
- Appraisals
- Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
This position will deputise for the Headteacher when they are not available as well as supporting with the day-to-day management of the school. This role includes the line management of the Assistant Headteachers and Heads of Learning; collating data and monitoring progress; maintenance of resources, equipment, classrooms and displays and supporting the Headteacher with strategic tasks, reports and policies as required.
