The Bertinet Bakery, based in Bath, has been crafting award winning breads, pastries, and cakes for over 18 years. We are a local, batch artisan bakery, proudly rooted in our community and dedicated to traditional methods, exceptional ingredients, and uncompromising quality. Every product is made with care, skill, and respect for the craft, delivering honest food that celebrates flavour, texture, and time.

As a Head Baker you will lead our team of bakers and oversee the production of our handcrafted bread and pastries. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the bakery's operations, ensuring the highest quality products are consistently produced while maintaining an efficient and organised workflow.

  • Lead and develop the night shift bakery team, using strong knowledge of bread production, dough handling and shaping techniques.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to drive product quality, consistency and production efficiency.
  • Engage, motivate and support team members, helping develop skills and progression across the bakery.
  • Promote excellent Health and Safety standards and maintain a strong food safe culture across the site.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve yields and increase overall bakery performance.
  • Support staffing, team organisation and production flow to ensure smooth and efficient night shift operations.
  • Maintain high bakery standards, ensuring good manufacturing practices and audit readiness at all times.

Have extensive experience as a baker, with a deep understanding of traditional artisan bread and pastry production. Are highly skilled in dough handling, fermentation, proofing, and baking, with the ability to ensure consistent, high-quality results. Have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and cleanliness in the bakery. Are reliable, organised, and have excellent time-management skills to lead a busy bakery efficiently.

Shift: 5:00PM-2:00AM

Pay: £17.20 per hour
