The Role
As a Print and Graphic Designer within Next’s Fashion Brands team, you will act as a creative guardian for a prestigious portfolio including Paul Smith, Allsaints and Ted Baker childrenswear, ensuring their unique brand "DNA" is translated into elevated, commercially successful designs across multi product categories, ages 0-14 years. By bridging the gap between trend research and technical execution, you’ll make a tangible impact on the aesthetic direction of our collections, reacting with agility to market data to keep our offerings ahead of the curve. You will thrive in a highly collaborative environment, working side-by-side with partner brands and internal garment teams to bring concepts to life across diverse product categories. To ensure your success from day one, Next provides comprehensive brand immersion and technical onboarding, supporting your transition into our fast-paced, premium design landscape.

What You’ll Take On

  • Design High-Impact Collections: Create innovative, commercial, and elevated prints and graphics that align with brand identities and drive sales.
  • Manage Factory Partnerships: Liaise directly with global factories and suppliers to oversee the production process, ensuring your creative vision is translated accurately into the final product.
  • Build Trusted Relationships: Foster strong, professional bonds with external brand partners and internal teams to build a culture of confidence, trust, and seamless collaboration.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functionally: Work alongside Product Technologists, Buying & Merch teams to develop collections that meet quality standards and hit every milestone on the critical path.
  • Translate Global Trends: Research and communicate emerging trends in colour, fabric, and graphic techniques, turning abstract inspiration into actionable design concepts.
  • Deliver Technical Precision: Produce detailed and accurate Tech Packs that provide factories with the clear specifications needed to minimise errors and maximise efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

  • Versatile Design Expertise: You possess an adaptable "handwriting" that allows you to switch effortlessly between different brand aesthetics, product categories, and age ranges across both boys and girlswear.
  • Technical Mastery: You are highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and have a deep understanding of print techniques (photographic and vector), trims, and woven branding. You know how to build thorough tech packs that respect factory capabilities and price points.
  • Commercial Sharpness: You stay ahead of market trends and understand how to compose graphics and logos that are commercially viable and "on-brand."
  • Resilience and Agility: You thrive in fast-paced environments, staying organised and positive even when priorities shift. You view change as an opportunity to innovate rather than a hurdle.
  • Clear Communication: You can present your concepts with confidence and communicate technical requirements clearly to both internal stakeholders and global suppliers.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You are a dedicated team player who enjoys building professional trust and is ready to mentor and support junior designers to help the whole team grow.
  • Forward-Thinking Skills: While not essential, experience with 3D design software /AI visualisation tools, or a background in garment construction will give you a significant head start.

We are specifically looking for visionary work that demonstrates forward-thinking trends and a sophisticated design handwriting capable of pushing creative boundaries.
