The Boxford, nestled 10 minutes from Newbury, is built on a site that was formerly occupied by ‘The Bell Inn’, a rural roadside inn that captured passing trade on the road to Newbury. What was then a Victorian public house and 1980s annex was turned into a modern and welcoming new restaurant in 2023. A family-friendly dining and drinks destination that specialises in fresh Seasonal Mediterranean cuisine with fresh pasta, wood-fired sourdough pizza, events and evolving menu development, in the scenic Berkshire countryside.

We are looking for individuals that want to join and assist our kitchen team to maintain the cleaning and washing with the BOH areas and support the chefs in developing a safe place to work.

  • Dishwashing – Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers.
  • Kitchen Cleanliness – Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas. Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Food Preparation – Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.
  • Inventory Management – Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety – Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen ensuring equipment is in good working order.

Hours per week: 35

No formal education is required, but a high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred. Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects. Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions. Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices is a plus. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Hands-on and proactive approach. Able to work autonomously and as part of a team. Excellent time management.
