We are looking for a Patient Services Advisor to join our team 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
Week 1: 7.45am - 1.45pm
Week 2: 12.30pm - 6.30pm
You will be working predominately at The Boulevard Medical Practice but will be required to work at our branch site Horne Street Surgery when required.

Basic Health Cover. You may be required to work overtime occasionally to cover for absences, this includes a Saturday morning. The practice is also developing services with other local practices and there may be opportunities to work in the future at other local practices or for the delivery of extended hours.
Main duties of the job:
- Your role will be predominately working within our busy Reception team.
- Working on main reception - greeting patients, booking appointments, sample handling, new patient registrations etc.
- Working on the incoming telephone lines - you will be the 1st line of contact for our patients, dealing with all incoming enquiries.
- Outbound calls - arranging follow up appointments.
- Internal/External mail handling.
- Filing of patient notes.
- Monitoring our E-consultation inbox and NHS Mail inbox.
Applicants will need to be able to work well within a team setting but also independently when required. The practice is committed to the development of all staff. Experience is not essential as full training will be given but some experience of customer service is preferred. Applicants must have GCSE or equivalent passes at grade C or above in Maths and English. Experience of working with SystmOne would be advantageous but not necessary.

The purpose of The Boulevard Medical Practice is to offer care, support and advice to all patients to enable them to maximise their quality of life. We are a very busy surgery within central Halifax providing care for 17,000 patients. We have two sites that we currently work across - The Boulevard Medical Practice and Horne Street Surgery.
Job responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken include all the items in the below list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Managers and the GP Partners.
- Working on main reception - greeting patients, booking appointments, sample handling, new patient registrations etc.
- Working on the incoming telephone lines - you will be the 1st line of contact for our patients, dealing with all incoming enquiries.
- Outbound calls - arranging follow up appointments.
- Internal/External mail handling.
- Filing of patient notes.
- Monitoring our E-consultation inbox and NHS Mail inbox.
- Care Navigation.
- Administrative duties - such as non-clinical audits, reporting, scanning etc.
- Participation in Practice Meetings.
- Ongoing staff training.
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Patient Services Advisor (Reception) may be requested to support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
- Be an accountable professional.
- Support delivery of QOF, incentive schemes, quality improvement projects, audits and other quality or cost effectiveness initiatives enhancing service delivery and patient care.
- Assist with COVID-19 tasks as required.
- Undertake any tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role, ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
- Duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility.
- To have a good understanding of practice protocols and policies.
- Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes.
- To act as a chaperone.
- Monitor and promote the use of the Friends and Family Test.
- Analyse existing working practices and suggest/implement alterations designed to ensure efficient service delivery to patients.
- Assist with the development of training protocols.
- Have a working knowledge of all software and hardware.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- GCSE English (C or above) and at least three others.
- Educated to A-level/equivalent or higher, with relevant experience.
Experience:
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Experience of administrative duties.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
