The Energy Technician will play a vital supporting role in the delivery of the Council’s energy and sustainability priorities. They will provide practical, technical and administrative support to the Energy Services Team, helping to manage energy data, prepare plans and reports, and support the delivery of projects that reduce energy use, carbon emissions and costs.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the Energy Services Team’s priorities, including Vision 2030, the Climate Change Strategy and Carbon Management Plan.
- Maintain and update computerised energy monitoring systems and databases, analysing, interpreting and reporting numerical data.
- Use digital systems and other software to support projects and planning permission requirements.
- Provide general energy conservation advice to council services and external clients.
- Support the delivery, monitoring and reporting of projects that reduce energy, water use and carbon emissions across the Council and the community.
- Assist with financial and administrative processes, including utility bill management, funding returns and support to NEC Project Managers (defects and early warnings).
- Prepare and present data for reports, funding applications and statutory returns.
- Handle and respond to incoming queries and issues, providing a high standard of customer service.
- Work with and support a range of stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, customers and partner organisations, contributing to the effective delivery of energy projects and services.
- Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade to support the wider work of the team.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of data management systems, including energy, building or property management systems.
- Experience using digital systems to produce plans, drawings and maps.
- Strong IT skills, including confident use of databases and spreadsheets (MS Office).
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present numerical data, meeting deadlines and working accurately.
- Proven ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, using effective organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, dealing confidently with both internal and external customers.
- Qualifications equivalent to Level 2, including literacy and numeracy, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
