What you'll be doing
The Solution Architect will lead data migrations or integrations solution design for a major HR transformation programme involving implementation of a HR Systems platform and contribute to delivery of end-to-end solution design for the programme.
Reporting into the Programme Solution Architect, this role is responsible for defining the target architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives, understanding of 3rd parties applications landscape and guiding the implementation of data migrations or integrations for HR platform modules such as Core HR, Talent, Payroll, Recruitment, Help Desk and Learning.
They will assist the Portfolio Technical Lead and Project Manager to resolve technical issues and work with Enterprise Architecture to understand Strategy and Roadmaps to identify and deliver appropriate solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and own the overall data migrations or integrations High Level Design for the programme, ensuring it aligns with enterprise architecture standards and HR transformation goals.
- Translate business requirements into robust, integrated, and compliant solution designs.
- Creation of end-to-end process flows, data models, integration patterns, and security frameworks.
- Define configuration standards, design principles, and architectural guardrails for the project.
- Ensure that designs are understood by the project team and specifically the portfolio technical lead and development team(s) including horizontals, third parties and shared services.
- Agree any divergence from the Enterprise Architecture standard for tactical business reasons with the relevant Enterprise Architect and ensure this is change controlled and any ensuing technical debt is captured in the Product backlog/roadmap.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Portfolio Technical Lead and development team(s) throughout the construction and testing of the product to ensure that the solution remains true to the Design.
- Recommend alternative approaches if specific difficulties are encountered which require modification of the design or where an alternative approach may be more efficient.
- Review designs and the developed solution at key points during the project to ensure that the integrity of the end-to-end integrated design has been maintained.
- Define integration architecture between HR platform and downstream systems (Payroll, Finance, Identity Management, etc.).
- Oversee API usage, middleware patterns, and data exchange protocols.
- Ensure compliance with security, GDPR, and organisational data governance policies.
- Provide directions on reporting architecture.
- Advise on testing non-functional, operational and technical requirements, review results and assist with analysing and resolving defects where required
- Act as the primary technical advisor to HR leadership, programme sponsors, and IT executives.
- Facilitate design workshops, solution walkthroughs, and decision-making forums.
- What you'll need to have (our must-haves)
- Experience of at least two large transformation programmes, specifically within HR Transformations.
- Deep knowledge of data migrations or integrations standards and tools.
- Proven experience defining target operating models, solution blueprints, and integration architectures,
- Experience working on large-scale HR transformation programmes, ideally across multiple geographies.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and Saa S implementation best practices.
- Ability to balance standardisation with business-specific requirements.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive consensus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
