Right now, this has never been more important as we take over the responsibility and evolution of the Supplier Sustainability Hub.
What you’ll be doing
As a Supplier Sustainability Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our suppliers meet the sustainability expectations of our business and brands. You will be working with the Global Sourcing Team and across the wider business including (but not only) Boots Product Sustainability Team, No7 Beauty Company and the wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Centre of Excellence to drive sustainability across Global Sourcing Own Brand supply base. You will play a key role in protecting and enhancing our brands by aligning suppliers to sustainability requirements and improving visibility through the timely collection of supplier declarations, as well as the overarching quality of product and packaging data. You will support suppliers in understanding and progressing their Net Zero commitments and sharing their progress onwards. An important part of the role is to provide accurate data to the wider business to support regulatory reporting such as HMRC Plastic Tax. You will also work closely with the Head of Sustainability to evolve and develop the Supplier Sustainability Hub, whilst building supplier and colleague knowledge through sustainability communications and training. This is a new role and one you can make your own.
Key responsibilities
- Enable improved supplier transparency through set‑up, development, management and delivery of the annual Supplier Sustainability Hub Campaign.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Supplier Sustainability Hub, strengthening data governance and usability, including working with the Head of Sustainability to build the strategy, devise a RACI and deliver improvements over time.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers on fixing errors and queries.
- Work collaboratively with Product and Technical Teams to ensure systems are in place to holistically improve product and packaging sustainability data.
- Build on existing work, to support the wider business, to access more accurate and timely supplier data, from the Sustainability Hub for key reportable topics such as HMRC plastic tax.
- Support suppliers in progressing their Net Zero commitments through engagement, data insight, and performance tracking.
- Use existing and new tools to effectively share supplier progress against sustainability requirements with key stakeholders.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
- A passion for sustainability and a desire to drive positive change.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively across internal teams and with external partners.
- Experienced in developing or enhancing tools, systems or frameworks.
- Data management and analytical capability.
- High attention to detail with a structured and process‑driven approach to work.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple activities.
It would be great if you also have
- Degree or equivalent experience. A sustainability related degree is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in sustainability reporting or compliance.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
