- What you'll be doing
As our Departmental Manager, you'll lead a large team daily and you'll ensure that customer service is at the forefront of your mind.
Additionally, you'll deliver levels of operational efficiency across all your areas of remit.
You will guide smarter, more efficient ways of working through automation, reducing waste activity and developing broad teams and creating a “can do” culture in our organisation.
You will lead a large team of colleagues, with up to 10 direct reports who are working across 2 shifts.
Manage both Boots and agency colleague performance, absence and accuracy.
You will also require yourself to own and lead multiple projects as part of your role, always maintaining a mindset on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- You will service 1,900 stores
- Manage up to 1,000 colleagues out of peak across both agency and core Boots teams, with headcount increasing during peak
- Experience providing meaningful CI programmes is necessary.
- To lead a team who are focused on maximising shelf availability and delivering the highest service level possible to stores and accurate receiving, picking and despatching of stock
- Manage performance of staff and achieve the throughputs in their functional area
- To control and manage budgets
- To ensure team members receive performance reviews
- To make short-term tactical decisions in the operation to overcome anything that may affect on service to stores or availability of products
- To link up with other Department Managers during the working day to ensure management of the warehouse
- To maintain a handover from the off going shift, the preparation and delivery of pre shift briefings and the coordination of activity and maintenance of a positive working relationship with the wider management team
- To implement short and medium operational plans within the warehouse
- To lead the Health and Safety and Shrink agenda with own team and operating area
- To ensure that a positive culture is created through recognition and support also responsible for ensuring that the partnership process is supported and visible to the team

- Effective working & strong communication skills that are effective at all levels.
- Support Team Leaders in developing themselves & their teams and managing performance issues that are fundamental to a successful operation.
- The ability to interpret high-level data, forward thinking, promote & motivate teams to achieve results and help to create a culture that they are proud to work in.

- Good level of automation experience would be ideal
- Proficient in MS office applications / Power BI
