Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of user‑centric mobile app experiences.
  • Directly manage a team of Product Designers, with a meaningful commitment to their development and day‑to‑day performance.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching, design direction, and honest feedback that helps each designer grow and deliver their best work.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive innovative solutions.
  • Utilise your expertise to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Hold accountability for the quality and effectiveness of all UX artefacts produced within the App domain during the agile development cycle.
  • Ensure design decisions balance user needs, business goals, technical feasibility, and accessibility compliance.
  • Maintain awareness of how the App experience interacts with adjacent product areas, ensuring a holistic and coherent user journey.
  • Work within and contribute to the evolution of shared UCD process, design system, and brand guideline.
  • Partner with the Product Lead to contribute to the app product vision and UX backlog, grounding recommendations in user insight and data.
  • Continuously identify experience improvement opportunities and help define the longer‑term UX direction for the domain.

Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience designing native mobile apps for iOS and/or Android.
  • Experience bringing an autonomous, established team into alignment with wider organisational design standards or governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agile and lean UX methodologies within a large, cross‑functional product organisation.
  • Deeper specialism in one UX discipline—such as product design, user research, content design, or accessibility—alongside breadth across others.
  • Experience in retail, e‑commerce, or consumer‑facing digital products.
