About the role

Patient-centered care is at the heart of everything we do and the Hospital Procurement Specialist role is vital for delivering this life-changing care by working with the pharmacy team and managing the availability of stock.

As a Hospital Procurement Specialist you will be a key member of the Boots Hospital Pharmacy team, supporting the operation by ensuring the right products are ordered at the right price, following the NHS Hospital drug formulary.

  • Be responsible for medicine management, reducing waste and minimising stock loss.
  • Deliver the technical aspects of the dispensary whilst ensuring the safe supply of medicines e.g. ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing and collection of prescriptions.
  • Ensure that stock is sourced from the appropriate list of suppliers at the expected price; contract and non-contract.
  • Manage the ordering and receiving of stock, including alternative suppliers where a product is unavailable.
  • Conduct daily stock counts and system maintenance.

What you’ll need to have

  • A Medicines Counter Assistant (NVQ2) qualification or equivalent. If you have not previously completed this, we’ll support your development to complete our training within 6 months of joining us.
  • Detail-oriented, with a passion for order and quality.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable and confident using technology and a variety of software systems.

It would be great if you also have

  • Previously managed or supervised a team.
  • Experience working in a pharmacy environment.
