The Healthcare Assistant Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in the Boots External Communications team, developing and activating Consumer PR campaigns across healthcare. It involves sharing Boots news and stories with relevant media and influencers and covers media relations, content creation, event management, creative writing and stakeholder management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of communication plans and campaigns that align with strategic priorities and customer promises for healthcare.
  • Create, draft and sell in news stories to media and influencers that result in positive editorial and social coverage for Boots healthcare.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare contacts, including consumer and national journalists, influencers and key stakeholders to secure high-quality media coverage.
  • Create engaging and newsworthy content and assets to support with storytelling, from press releases, media alerts, infographics, B‑roll, video edits and editorial content.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile regular communication reports, providing insights and recommendations for future activity.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of media events, product launches and press briefings.
  • Respond to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, supporting with the send out of product samples to media and influencers as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including marketing, social media and internal communications to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated communications plans.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, competitor activities and relevant news to inform our communications approach and news angles.

What you’ll need to have (our must‑haves):

  • Previous experience in PR or communications, preferably within the consumer health sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and an ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
  • Confident in engaging with media, influencers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Innovative thinker with a passion for storytelling and brand building.
  • Calm under pressure and able to respond quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in PR, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
