Fixed Wing – Supply Chain Operations Lead
The partnership between Boeing and the UK dates back to the 1930’s and continues to get stronger and deeper, with UK jobs, skills and opportunities being constantly generated to support major UK aircraft programmes such as Apache & Chinook helicopters, C-17 Globemaster, P-8A Poseidon and the E-7 AEW&C, to mention a few.
Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is searching for a Fixed Wing – Supply Chain Operations Lead in Birmingham, UK. This role will be to lead the Fixed Wing Supply Chain operations team for the E-7 UK and E-7 USAF Production Programmes, responsible for the “Fulfil/Return” Capability for the BDUK Fixed Wing business unit and responsible for inventory management, demand management and warehouse management integration with a key subcontractor. The Fixed Wing business unit is an area of significant growth within BDUK and this role represents a great opportunity to develop the supply chain strategies to support this growth, develop the team and build a strong and capable UK supply chain to meet the needs of the Fixed Wing business and Customer requirements. This role will report to the Supply Chain Operations Manager for BDUK Fixed Wing Supply Chain – Major Projects, integrating with BDS E-7 Senior Supply Chain Manager and E-7 AMS UK Modification Leadership. This role is required to be on-site full time at Birmingham Airport.
Responsibilities
- Senior team member responsible for Fixed Wing Supply Chain Operations capability across all supply activities out of Birmingham Airport.
- Represent E-7 Fixed Wing Supply Chain Management as the key on-site leadership interface between the E-7 UK AMS Programme and Supply Chain. This would include preparing for and attending key programme and Modification leadership drumbeat meetings on behalf of Supply Chain Management.
- Lead team members performing activities related to management of inventory, demand response and satisfaction, warehousing and logistics. This team will be maintaining Target Stock Levels, evolving Material Flow and Warehousing strategy, as well as Import/export compliance and the shipment of Dangerous Goods.
- Adept practitioner of Seek, Speak and Listen/Psychological Safety principles across all activities whether people or programme focused.
- Management of contract key performance indicators, including provision of material on time, provision of Mission and Flight Critical spares, Programme financial performance and audit compliance (Internal, UK MoD, prt 145 and external auditors).
- Integrating with stakeholders across Boeing Defence, Space & Security (BDS), Boeing Global Services, and teams in the UK, Australia and the US.
- Build and sustain positive relationships, influence key stakeholders, customers and suppliers – specifically STS Aviation Services and BDS supplier.
- The identification and implementation of Best and Emergent Supply Chain Operations Practices in collaboration with the Functional Excellence team.
- Delivering cost reduction on annual basis through the delivery of improvements and efficiencies through the Fixed Wing supply chain.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain experience, ideally leading teams as an individual contributor.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate at all levels within an organisation to manage stakeholders including Suppliers and Customers.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience supporting and leading cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to be self‑directed in work and/or previous experience in a self‑directed role.
- Strong business acumen and adept problem‑solving ability.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to obtain UK SC security clearance.
- Communication skills and customer focus are critical to be successful in the role.
- University degree.
- Active UK security clearance. Experience supporting proposal preparation for UK government contracts.
