Role Overview
The Equipment Reliability function at Boeing Sheffield, a Boeing Fabrication site that is part of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), are looking to hire an experienced Equipment Maintenance Specialist. As an Equipment Maintenance Specialist (Night Shift), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the machines are ready for production. You will work as part of a team that is responsible for maintaining and repairing our high‑tech CNC machines and various other production and quality assets.
Position Responsibilities
- Preventative maintenance tasks: Perform planned preventative maintenance, condition‑based inspections and corrective repairs on CNC machines and ancillary production equipment.
- Machine Breakdowns: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults; troubleshoot and restore equipment to production‑ready condition.
- Machine Alignments: Install, adjust and commission new or modified equipment, including alignment, calibration and safety checks.
- Business improvements: Support breakdown and root‑cause investigations, implement corrective actions and document findings to prevent recurrence.
- Stock management: Manage critical spares and inventory, including stock monitoring, replenishment and recordkeeping.
- Training: Provide on‑the‑job guidance to less experienced technicians on safe operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Equipment reliability: Work collaboratively with production, engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement and reliability projects.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- Multi‑skilled experience required with an electrical bias and demonstrable mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fault‑finding experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and PLC/HMI documentation.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Level 3 apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5+ years’ post‑apprenticeship experience working in a maintenance job role, not including apprenticeship.
- HNC qualification in engineering.
- Experience with FANUC operating systems.
- Experience with Siemens operating systems.
- Experience in fault‑finding/programming PLCs and HMIs.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Experience working in an AS9100 aerospace workplace.
