Boeing Global Services is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead and develop a team of Project Managers within the Commercial Modifications Europe organisation based in Frimley, UK. This role supports the Connectivity product line, which delivers Low Earth Orbit Connectivity solutions to airline customers worldwide. The successful candidate will report to the Global Connectivity Leader in Long Beach, California and will partner closely with the global team to support execution through the EASA certification pathway.
This position is responsible for leading project management personnel, driving execution discipline, supporting team development, and ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer commitments, and regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers based in Frimley and other locations as required by the business.
- Partner with the Global Connectivity Leader to shape programme execution strategy and ensure alignment to delivery objectives.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and risk management activities to support achievement of programme objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between senior management and project teams, providing clear and timely updates on status, risks, and opportunities.
- Facilitate resource planning, workload balancing, and professional development across the team.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen project management processes and improve team performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer Support, to support successful programme execution.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and performance management activities within the project management team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
- Legal authorization to work immediately in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
- Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Experience supporting customer-facing aerospace programs or modification activities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams of Project Managers, ideally within the aerospace sector.
- Strong project management background with a proven track record of delivering complex aerospace projects.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, JIRA, and Smartsheet, as well as reporting software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound tactical decisions under pressure while maintaining alignment with strategic goals.
- Ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
Additional Information
The successful candidate should have an ability to work onsite in Frimley a minimum of four days per week, together with a willingness and ability to travel periodically to Long Beach for strategic coordination, and globally to support emergent customer needs, approximately 10% of the time.
