Boeing Defence UK is looking for a Network Administrator to support various technical requirements within a busy IT Infrastructure team. This role will involve contributing to the delivery of projects and sustainment within a demanding environment supporting Boeing Defence UK operations. The role is hybrid, with an expectation to work from many of our sites two or three days per week. You will be involved in project activities, hardware and software installation, daily support, configuration and disposition of servers and networks.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for delivering outcomes for various requests that present themselves to the network team. Equally comfortable, confident and professional whether on the end of a phone or ‘hands‑on’ at a desk within a number of sites we support, you will be the sort of individual that takes pride in providing a first‑rate service and genuinely enjoys solving IT issues for colleagues at all levels. The role will provide an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to grow their skills and become a vital team member within both BDUK and the global teams we work with.
Position Responsibilities
- Continuously looking for improvements to ensure services operated are aligned to industry best practice and Boeing enterprise best practices.
- Responding to events, requests and incidents logged in management systems.
- Performing analysis of log files, systems, and network traffic.
- Working to well‑defined SLAs & KPIs.
- Contribute to daily task requests within the team.
- Identify and raise technical challenges and limitations within the networking estate.
- Provide network advice and support to various projects and programmes.
- Represent Networks and Infrastructure at meetings where necessary.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- User Access Networks (Wired / Wireless Cisco Catalyst Switches).
- Data Centre Switches (Cisco Nexus).
- Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP).
- Firewall (Juniper, Palo Alto).
- VPN Technologies.
- Various IP Protocols (ie SNMP, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP).
- Infoblox DNS/DHCP Management.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Cisco CCNA.
- F5 Load Balancers.
- Solarwinds or PRTG.
- System Log Management and Network/Server Monitoring.
- VMware.
- Linux Operating Systems.
- Windows Server Technology.
Work Authorisation
