Primary Tasks
- Tier 2 and 3 network support.
- Mostly remote support of 2 datacentres with some travel to sites in Corsham, Farnborough, Milton Keynes, Bicester and Waddington.
- Troubleshooting complex network issues including raising tickets with vendors if required.
- Planning and implementation of upgrades and hardware refresh with some out-of-hours and weekend work required.
- Liaising with other functional teams in Infrastructure and application teams.
- Participation in a shift pattern covering 7AM – 7PM Monday to Friday.
- Hybrid working based in Bristol.
- On-call support 1 week in 3.
Key Skills
- Cisco ACI: Configuration of switching fabric (multi-pod spine-leaf architecture), tenants, application profiles, EPGs (Endpoint Groups), and contract management. Experience with Cisco Nexus 9000 switches. Ability to use Ansible (playbooks/roles), Python, and REST APIs to automate network configurations and policy enforcement. Experience using Cisco APIC, SNMP, and telemetry tools to diagnose issues.
- ASA / Firepower: In-depth experience with Cisco ASA and Firepower to manage firewall policies, ACLs, and NAT configurations. Managing high-availability by setting up Active/Standby or Active/Active modes, configuring failover interfaces, monitoring via CLI/ASDM, and managing failover criteria.
- Catalyst IOS XE: Solid knowledge of OSPF, BGP, NAT, VLANs, and Layer 2/3 technologies (Spanning Tree, EtherChannel). Proficiency in configuring Site-to-Site VPNs (IPsec) using ASDM and CLI.
- F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager: Proficient in setting up Virtual Servers, Pools, Nodes, and Profiles (TCP, HTTP, SSL). Ability to write and troubleshoot TCL-based iRules for custom traffic routing and manipulation. Managing certificate installation, SSL profiles, and offloading encryption to reduce server load. Configuring device groups, failover scenarios, and synchronization.
- General networking skills: Experience using tools like Xabbix, SolarWinds, or Splunk for network monitoring / troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and ICMP. Use of Wireshark and packet-tracer commands to diagnose connectivity issues. Managing, configuring, and supporting Infoblox Core Network Services (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM—commonly known as DDI).
