This is an on-site based role in Bristol, with flexibility for occasional remote working at the discretion of the management team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Automation Test Engineer to join our dynamic team in Digital Services and Analytics (DS&A). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Manual & automation testing, particularly with Selenium, and experience in Java programming. Familiarity with cloud technologies and DevOps practices is a plus for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on project requirements and design specifications
- Execute test cases and conduct both manual and automated testing to ensure product quality
- Identify, record, document, and track software defects and collaborate with the development team to resolve issues
- Work closely with software developers to understand product architecture and technical requirements
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks and tools
- Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings
- Provide clear and concise feedback to the development team regarding product quality and potential areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, tools, and technologies related to software testing and quality assurance.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience as a Software Test Engineer or similar role
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes
- Experience in creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts
- Proficiency in both manual and automated testing tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
- Exposure to Selenium, IntelliJ, GITHUB, JMeter
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and practices
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Attention to detail and a passion for ensuring software quality
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Desirable Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Test Automation tools like Selenium Webdriver, SmartBear Test complete, GitLab, IntelliJ & TestNG Framework.
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Knowledge of API testing and tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured).
- Familiarity with Test Management tools like Microfocus ALM.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
