E-7 Wedgetail Mod Site - Operations Manager
Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 2,000 people in the UK and is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK and international defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

About the role
We are seeking highly qualified and experienced candidates to take on a pivotal role in managing Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Operations at our Boeing Repair Station in Birmingham. The successful individuals will be responsible for overseeing and leading the multidisciplinary operations team of maintenance technicians and certifiers. Your primary focus will be to ensure the efficient execution of both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and modifications on aircraft, ultimately driving the successful delivery of our aircraft projects. Role and Responsibilities
- The successful candidates will lead and manage the supplier maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of E-7 aircraft production, modification and maintenance activities. Conducting and participating in daily meetings with the modification supplier counterpart.
- Foster a culture of excellence in maintenance planning and control, emphasizing safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the daily build plan is deployed, ensuring safe, timely and efficient execution of tasks by the suppliers’ maintenance team.
- Lead daily operations action tracker meetings to address issues from production, find solutions and remove roadblocks working with functional support teams.
- Coordinate with multifunctional support groups as required to resolve aircraft issues, working actions and updating the Action Tracker to distribute out to appropriate support groups.
- Interpret manufacturing issues to keep production moving and resolve all chronic and recurring issues by ensuring processes are being followed and the team is working together to resolve issues.
- Agree and communicate with the first shift Boeing management and IE (scheduler) to evaluate and set the build plan for the second shift.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience either working on or managing aircraft build or maintenance activities within a civilian or military environment, preferably on B737 or similar Boeing type (minimum 12 months).
- The ability to provide knowledge‑based leadership/oversight and apply both technical and human factors (HF) knowledge, with regard to the running and control of maintenance staff, against industry and organisational requirements.
- An excellent communicator, with a demonstrable ability to manage, able to communicate the organisational and technical work requirements to their staff and to ensure their Maintenance Controllers and Team Leads support these requirements, in order that key business targets are met.
- Capable of upward and cross‑peer communicating and managing at all levels, cross functional areas, programme and the customers effectively.
- Demonstrable and proven working knowledge of EASA, FAA, CAA or MAA Regulation, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS) processes, and the application of these requirements.
- Management of their team/s to ensure workflow progress, to maintain the scheduled plan, ensuring all work requirements are captured and workloads controlled, for on time completion, to budget, to the first time Quality standards
- Capable of understanding and interpreting Technical Documents, Technical Drawings and/or associated Authorised Technical Publications (ATP’s), to provide guidance to their team/s if necessary
- Demonstrable and proven leadership, capable of adopting appropriate leadership skills/ styles for effective management of their team/s
- Demonstrate and install the core Boeing ‘Our Values & Behavior’s’ with their team
- Ability to work independently under time constraints and pressure, while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with supply chain management and logistics related to aircraft maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
Hold an Aircraft Maintenance License, A&P, EASA, EMAR, CAA or equivalent.
Or Degree level educated in an Engineering discipline.
Familiarity with 737NG base maintenance processes.
