Job Opportunity: Head of Music at The Paragon School, Bath

This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Music to lead a vibrant music department at The Paragon School, Bath. The successful candidate will be an inspiring and passionate musician with a genuine enthusiasm for working with young children. School Music Program and Facilities

The school values music as a core part of the curriculum and offers numerous extracurricular activities, including four choirs, samba bands, African drumming clubs, instrumental ensembles, and an orchestra. The school participates in events such as Young Voices, Voices for Life concerts in Bath Abbey, the Midsomerset festival, two annual musicals, and collaborations with Prior Park College.

Department Structure

  • The department comprises 7 visiting music teachers.
  • A music administrator manages weekly timetabling, pay administration, and exam bookings.
  • Music facilities include a purpose-built ‘Swiss chalet’ with a large classroom featuring a Kawai baby grand piano, and three practice rooms equipped with Clavinova-style pianos.

About The Paragon School

Located in a beautiful Georgian house near Bath, The Paragon caters to over 250 children aged 3-11. It offers a broad curriculum taught in small classes by passionate teachers. The school includes Squirrels Pre-School, Pre-Prep, and Prep School, and is part of the Prior Park Schools family, which also includes Prior Park College in Gibraltar.

About Prior Park College Music Department

The department includes a Director of Music, two Teachers of Music, 20 visiting Music Teachers, and a Music Administrator. It is situated in the main Mansion building with performance spaces such as the John Wood Chapel, the school Chapel, and a dedicated Theatre. The department delivers approximately 200 1:1 lessons weekly, over 60 concerts annually, and runs brass schemes for two-year groups each year.
