They should be a skilled practitioner with experience in a residential setting who has the capacity to care for, guide and motivate pupils, while working and living in our year 9 boarding house (ages 13-14). Boarding arrangements are structured horizontally with pupils living in their own year groups.

The quality of the care and support pupils receive from the House Staff is of critical importance to the school’s success and to the happiness and future success of our students. As part of the broader pastoral and residential team, you will perform an invaluable role supporting the Housemistress/master (HsM) in creating and maintaining a vibrant and welcoming family environment in which students feel happy, fulfilled and well supported.

You will also have a strong collaborative approach, liaising daily with tutors, teachers, the Health Centre and senior leaders. Your support will enable the students in your boarding house to thrive and fulfil their potential in all areas of school life.

As a non-teaching position, the Deputy HsM will take up approx. 15 hours of support duties in addition to House responsibilities. Additional Pastoral Assistants help to cover the House during the daytime hours while teachers carry out one evening duty in house per week.

Salary starts at £28,324 for non-teaching. It is a full-time contract (paid for 52 weeks of the year), working 35 term time weeks per year, with all school holiday weeks recognised as annual leave.
