Are you passionate about helping pets that are most in need? Can you engage with people that might be in challenging circumstances whilst demonstrating your emotional intelligence? We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to support our admissions process – assisting our teams to help some of the most vulnerable pets by placing them with one of our care services.
Whilst volunteering you might find yourself taking the history of a pet, arranging an admissions appointment with an owner or working with a host of other charities dealing with hoarding cases. There’s no shortage of people and pets in need of our help but we can be flexible around your availability. This role will be directly supporting our Admissions Coordinators, helping them in managing people and pets in need of our services. You’ll be joining a fantastic team and will be able to see first‑hand how your work directly impacts pets in need of help.
What you will be doing:
- Communicating with people needing our help to admit pets, responding to emails and making calls directly to the owners
- Working with our Admissions Coordinator to direct people and their pets into the most appropriate service we offer
- Gathering information from owners about their pets
- Assisting with admissions appointments when admitting pets into the centre
- Administrative tasks such as data input, printing and filing
The skills you need:
- Great communications skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer services skills, particularly around a fast‑paced and often emotional environment
- Good questioning skills with the ability to gather information and distil the important points
