Volunteer role: Kennel Assistant Volunteer

Where you will be based: Hospital

Why we want you: Blue Cross has four animal hospitals, helping over 30,000 pets a year whose owners can’t afford private veterinary fees. The hospitals require a wide range of roles and skills to ensure their smooth day to day running. Your support will ensure that our pets have the best care possible and that our kennels area runs smoothly. We would love you to join us and help us help pets in need.

What you will be doing:

  • Helping with daily tasks in kennels including cleaning floors and pens, washing food bowls and restocking
  • Helping in the laundry
  • Feeding cats and dogs
  • Enrichment activities and grooming

The skills you need:

  • Regular commitment and reliability
  • Lots of experience of owning or caring for dogs and/or cats and an interest in their welfare
  • Animal care qualification or kennels experience would be an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team or alone
  • willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures
