If that sounds like you and you’ve got green fingers, put your planting passion to good use by joining our volunteer team. Our Blue Cross sites have lots of green space that we want to keep looking great and safe for pets, team and visitors.
This is a varied role that may involve:
- Planting flower beds
- Weeding
- Removing hazardous species such as ragwort
- Creating wildflower zones for pollinators
- Growing vegetables for the pets
It’s a busy role but we can be flexible around your availability.
Where you will be based: Property/on-site
Why we want you: At Blue Cross we value beautiful, sustainable land. This role supports contractor work and ensures timely garden tasks such as:
- Planting spring bulbs
- Refreshing planters
- Sweeping and composting leaves
- Growing pet vegetables
It also involves removing harmful plants and helping us reach climate goals by enhancing biodiversity.
What you will be doing:
- Weeding and tidying
- Planting and caring for plants
- Pruning using hand tools
- Seasonal tasks such as collecting leaves
- Growing vegetables or removing ragwort at some sites
- Supporting biodiversity efforts
- Disposing of garden waste in line with policies
- Mowing grass with a push lawnmower
The skills you need:
- Experience and enjoyment of gardening
- Willingness to follow Health and Safety Policy and ways of working
- Good communication skills
