Our friendly and growing team is ready to welcome a new team member who will share our passion for improving access and the quality of care for people with eating disorders. The working environment is in a specialist community adult eating disorder service comprising a community out-patient services and day services for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. The environment involves frequent exposure to emotionally demanding situations. Working in this environment requires intense concentration and good interpersonal skills. You will work directly with service-users offering psychological interventions, including Guided Self-Help and CBT-T, and support especially during meal and snack times. You will also be required to have meals with service-users in the dining room.
Main duties of the job include:
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.
- Maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Trust policies and procedures.
- Preparing test materials and visual aids as required.
- Undertaking specific administrative duties as required.
- Performing other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade which may be required from time to time by their Manager.
- Covering the Housekeeper's duties during periods of absence.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
- Attending meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able to offer safe and effective care at all times. All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank; however, this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.
Essential qualifications include an upper second or first class Honours degree in psychology and entitlement to graduate membership and the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) of the British Psychological Society. Desirable qualifications include further post-graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Essential experience includes work with clients with mental health problems and/or other disabilities. Desirable experience includes working with people with eating disorders and previous experience as an assistant psychologist.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
