Social Media Assistant
About the Role
The Birtenshaw Group is looking for a creative, motivated and enthusiastic Social Media Assistant to help share the stories of Birtenshaw and the children and young adults we support.
Working as part of the Social Media team, you will create engaging digital content that raises awareness of our services, celebrates achievements, strengthens our brand and showcases the positive impact of our work across a range of social media platforms.
A key focus of the role will be creating engaging recruitment content that promotes Birtenshaw as an employer of choice, helping to attract people who share our values and want to make a difference.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for digital marketing, photography, videography and storytelling who wants to make a genuine difference through their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Birtenshaw's social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Linked In and You Tube.
- Plan, create, schedule and publish engaging content in line with the organisation's social media strategy, brand guidelines and preferred terminology.
- Visit Birtenshaw sites and services to capture high-quality photography and video content, ensuring appropriate consent procedures are followed.
- Write compelling copy tailored to different audiences and social media platforms.
- Edit photographs and produce engaging video content that communicates meaningful stories and showcases the positive impact of Birtenshaw's work.
- Identify emerging social media trends, platform updates and content opportunities to increase audience engagement and brand awareness.
- Monitor social media performance using analytics tools and produce regular reports on engagement, reach, audience growth and campaign effectiveness for the Social Media Manager and Senior Management Team.
- Support the promotion of fundraising campaigns, events, recruitment campaigns and organisational initiatives through digital content.
- Engage with online communities by responding appropriately to comments and messages where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to identify and develop engaging content opportunities.
- Ensure all content reflects Birtenshaw's values, safeguarding responsibilities, accessibility standards and the social model of disability.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate
- Experience managing social media platforms within a professional environment.
- Experience using social media scheduling, management and analytics tools.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience creating engaging photography and video content for social media.
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud applications (or equivalent creative software).
- Confidence using video editing software to create high-quality digital content.
- A proactive, creative approach with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- A genuine passion for social media and an up-to-date understanding of current digital trends and emerging platforms.
- The ability to work independently whilst managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Additional Requirements
- A full UK driving licence is desirable, as the role requires regular travel between Birtenshaw sites and services.
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends to capture content from events.
