We are seeking a high calibre sous chef to support our head chef and kitchen team. The Bird in Hand at North Curry is a beautiful village pub serving freshly prepared delicious quality cuisine. Menus change weekly and the pub features many speciality dining events and outside catering events.
The sous chef will support the head chef and play an integral part of the menu development and menu planning as well as deputise in the head chef's absence.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and creating daily specials.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of culinary skill.
- Oversee kitchen operations to ensure food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
- Supervise kitchen staff and help manage their performance and development.
- Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Help with stock management, ensuring efficient use of ingredients and minimizing waste.
- Step up in the absence of the Head Chef, running the kitchen independently.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure during peak times.
