About Dukes, Bath
Set in the beautiful city centre of Bath, Dukes is modern, vibrant and full of personality. This boutique hotel brings colour, character and a little bit of pizzazz to one of the UK’s most historic cities. With our re-launched restaurant and beautifully renovated rooms, Dukes is writing its next chapter as one of Bath’s go-to spots for great food, good drinks, private dining and memorable stays.
What is it like to work with us?
We are imaginative, playful and proudly unconventional. Whether you are new to hospitality or building a lifelong career, we want you to feel comfortable being the you’est you you can be. We are big-hearted, we respect each other, our guests and our wider community, and we are always serious about giving people a bloody good time.
What you’ll be doing as Guest Experience Lead
- You’ll be one of those people who somehow knows what’s going on everywhere.
- Breakfast rush? You’re there with coffee, calm and a smile.
- Check-ins landing all at once? You’re making it look effortless.
- A guest needs a dinner recommendation, a room move, extra towels and reassurance that yes, they did book the right hotel? You’ve got it.
- The restaurant needs an extra pair of hands, reservations are pinging, the phone is ringing and someone has just asked where the oat milk lives? You’re already on it.
This is a role for someone who likes movement, people and variety. You’ll float between front desk, bar, breakfast service, reservations and daily hotel operations, keeping the guest experience feeling smooth, warm and unmistakably Dukes, Bath.
You’ll be:
- Creating brilliant first impressions at check-in and lovely last impressions at check-out
- Bringing energy and warmth to breakfast service in our gorgeous restaurant
- Keeping an eye on reservations, guest messages and the little details that make stays feel special
- Supporting the team when the pace picks up, whether that means carrying plates, pouring drinks or solving a front desk puzzle
- Being the person guests and team members look to when they need an answer, a decision or a bit of calm
- Spotting the tiny things before they become big things
- Helping our managers keep standards high without losing the fun
- Making sure every shift has personality, polish and a little bit of pizzazz
We’re looking for a brilliant hospitality person - Someone who can read a room, charm a guest, support a teammate and keep smiling when three things need doing at once. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you do need to care, notice things and be happy getting stuck in. You might be from hotels, restaurants, bars, events, retail, travel or somewhere wonderfully random. What matters is that you love people, move with purpose and bring good energy into the building.
You’ll probably enjoy this role if you are:
- A natural host who makes people feel welcome within seconds
- Calm when it gets busy, not someone who disappears when the printer jams
- Happy to jump from breakfast service to check-ins to reservations without needing a lie down
- Organised enough to keep the wheels turning, but playful enough to enjoy the ride
- Confident having real conversations with guests and team members
- The kind of person who sees a problem and quietly starts fixing it
- Comfortable being visible, hands-on and part of the action
- Full of warmth, common sense and character
Experience in hotels is great. Experience in life is useful too. If you have worked somewhere fast-paced, looked after people properly and learned how to keep your cool, we would love to hear from you. Most importantly, we want someone who brings themselves to work. The polished bits, the quirky bits, the funny bits, the thoughtful bits — all of it.
What happens next?
Attract our attention with your application and we’ll give you a call. After a quick chat, we’ll invite you in for a friendly Team Insight. You’ll spend an hour or two getting a feel for the hotel, meeting the team and asking us anything you like. We’ll ask you a few questions too. If it feels right on both sides, you may just become part of the Duke family…
