Overview
This role within TBC’s Nature Services Practice will be to analyse, interpret and visualise large datasets to help our client’s incorporate biodiversity into their target setting.
Responsibilities
- Developing evidence-based approaches for focal areas of business development, including workflow and tool development to provide companies with solutions.
- Supporting the Nature Services team to improve our data workflows and streamline our existing programs.
- Analyse and interpret data provided by clients to identify the best approaches to take to meet the requirements of the task.
- Ensuring that our client work is firmly evidence-based, through scientific input, technical review and diffusion of evidence-based methods across the team.
Essential attributes and experience
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- At least five years’ experience with programming software (R or Python) to engage with our data analysts and client / partner specialists.
- Experience with large datasets – cleaning, preparation, analysis, and visualisation.
- Experience working with spatial data (especially in R/Python).
- Work within a team to develop new approaches, show proactivity to implement new methods.
- University degree in a relevant field (i.e. computer sciences or biodiversity-related field of study)
- Demonstrated ability to distil complex scientific concepts into appropriate language for a non-specialist audience, and of communicating this verbally and in writing.
- A passion for biodiversity and a belief that business has a positive role to play in a safe and just ecological transition.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A demonstrated track record of interdisciplinary scientific work and of successfully working in diverse high-capacity teams.
- Experience with biodiversity in working landscapes.
- Masters degree or PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience with statistical modelling/AI/machine learning.
