The game of bingo has a strong reputation as a safe and social community activity, with venues acting as community hubs, as well as centers for entertainment and fun. Not only does it play a critical role in bringing communities together, many venues are evolving into modern, vibrant, social spaces where customers can enjoy broader competitive socializing and cross channel experiences.

The sector is embarking on a pivotal chapter in its evolution, with many exciting commercial and regulatory transformation opportunities to navigate, ensuring that bingo can thrive and continue to delight communities for generations to come. The Bingo Association (BA), National Bingo Game Association (NBGA) and Meeron are appointing a Chief Executive Officer to jointly lead all three industry bodies to deliver that ambition.

The Bingo Association (BA) is a membership and subscription-based organization that promotes and develops the interests of all land based licensed bingo operators. It currently represents circa 625 licensed bingo premises consisting of 248 bingo clubs, 222 high street bingo venues, and 156 holiday parks, in addition to 17 associate members drawn from the bingo industry supply chain.

The National Bingo Game Association (NBGA) is a mutual and for-profit company and manages several commercial products on behalf of the members – the flagship being the National Bingo Game. Meeron Ltd is a subsidiary of the NBGA which enables smaller, more independent operators and their customers to enjoy the benefits of linked bingo games.

The core purpose of the role is to lead the Bingo Association in promoting and developing strategies that serve in the interests of all land based licensed bingo operators, as well as owning the strategic and commercial leadership of the National Bingo Game Association and Meeron Ltd.

Whilst experience within the Bingo sector would be desirable, candidates could come from a variety of backgrounds. Relevant candidates are likely to come from a gaming or retail / leisure background and be able to demonstrate strong experience in leading successful B2C multi-site businesses.

Experience Profile;

  • Knowledge of licensed bingo premises and their products would be ideal but not essential
  • A sound understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Awareness of the Political / Lobbying landscape and experience influencing this agenda
  • Appreciation of the wider gambling arena
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experienced team leader

The successful candidate will have natural gravitas, with the communication and influencing skills to impact both at Board level and across key stakeholder groups including its sponsoring department DCMS, Gambling Commission and businesses that support the industry more generally, galvanizing them behind the vision and growth strategy.

As a leisure business, the CEO and senior employees understand that on occasions field-based activities require extensive travel and flexibility, which will include out of office working as an essential part of the role to meet the expectations of the membership.
