Self Employed in Glasgow

Glasgow Full-Time Remote
T

The Bill Detective is a Glasgow-based service covering the whole UK. It was created by Alex Wilson, an emergency services worker and Authorised Utility Warehouse Partner.

It helps UK households review essential bills, such as energy, broadband, mobile and insurance, to understand whether they're getting a fair deal.

The Bill Detective also supports full-time and shift workers who want to build flexible extra income alongside their existing jobs, without pressure and at their own pace.

The approach is straightforward and personal. There's no sales team or call centre: every conversation is directly with Alex.

Services are delivered remotely across Scotland and the rest of the UK, with free 15-minute consultations available online.

This opportunity is open to UK residents only.

Role Description

This is a self-employed opportunity to become an Authorised Utility Warehouse Partner. Partners join Utility Warehouse directly as independent, self-employed partners. It is not employment with The Bill Detective. Alex will personally support and mentor you.

Day-to-day activities include speaking with UK households by phone or online calls, gathering information about their current providers, and explainingoptions in clear, accessible language.

You’ll use the tools and training provided to review services, identify potential savings, and guide clients through switching or upgrading where appropriate.

You’ll also build your own flexible pipeline of clients through ethical outreach, networking and referrals, working at your own pace from anywhere in the UK.

This is a remote, self-employed role. It offers autonomy, lets you fit the work around existing commitments, and has the potential to grow your income over time. Income is commission-based and not guaranteed. What you earn depends on your own effort and results.

  • Aged 18 or over and UK Resident
  • No previous experience needed. Full training and support are provided.
  • Flexible hours that fit around a full-time job, shift work or family life
  • There's a small one-off joining fee and a low monthly fee, which I'll explain in full on our call.

Qualifications

  • Ability to clearly explain information, listen actively, and communicate in a client-facing role.
  • Comfort with basic numeracy, comparing prices and tariffs, and using online tools or dashboards to review billing and service options.
  • Strong personal organisation and time management skills to handle flexible, self-directed work and follow up with clients reliably.
  • Basic digital literacy, including using email, online scheduling tools, video calls, and maintaining accurate records of client interactions.
  • Integrity and a straightforward, non-pressured approach to discussing income opportunities with potential partners and clients.
  • Willingness to learn about the UK market for energy, broadband, mobile, and insurance; prior experience in customer service, sales, or financial advisory is beneficial but not required.
  • Comfort working on a self-employed, commission-based or performance-related contract, with motivation to build and sustain your own client base.
