The Best Connection - Recruiting on Behalf of Our Client in Paddock Wood

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for a Warehouse Runner to join our client's busy e-commerce distribution operation based in Paddock Wood.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys an active, hands‑on role and takes pride in keeping a warehouse organised, efficient and running smoothly. You will play an important part in supporting the picking and packing teams by ensuring workstations are fully stocked, order trolleys are exchanged promptly and the working environment remains clean and safe.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period, with access to additional benefits once permanent.

The Role

As a Warehouse Runner, you will keep the Goods Out department moving by anticipating what the packing team needs before they run out. You will regularly move around the warehouse, replenish packaging materials, exchange order trolleys and assist with authorised stock movements.

Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with previous warehouse, retail or fulfilment experience who is looking to develop your skills and progress within a busy operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exchange full order trolleys for empty ones, ensuring packers can continue working without unnecessary delays.

  • Move completed order trolleys to the designated next stage of the operation.

  • Replenish packing stations with boxes, tape, void fill and other packaging materials.

  • Monitor stock levels at packing stations and replenish items before they run out.

  • Assist with authorised stock movements, working closely with the warehouse administration team.

  • Check stock codes and locations carefully to ensure items are moved correctly.

  • Remove cardboard and waste, empty bins and maintain a clean, tidy working environment.

  • Keep walkways, packing areas and stock locations clear and safe.

  • Report stock shortages, discrepancies, damaged equipment and any health and safety concerns.

  • Respond promptly to requests from packers and other warehouse colleagues.

  • Communicate any delays or issues to the relevant team leader.

  • Provide clear handovers to colleagues regarding outstanding tasks, stock requirements and equipment locations.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous warehouse, retail or fulfilment experience is preferred but not essential.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn, with full training provided.

  • Comfortable working in an active, physically mobile role throughout the shift.

  • Good attention to detail when checking stock codes, quantities and locations.

  • Organised, reliable and able to anticipate what needs doing.

  • Good communication skills and the confidence to raise issues when necessary.

  • A strong awareness of health and safety.

  • Someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organised and efficient workplace.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable and enjoys being part of a team. You should be comfortable staying on your feet, working at pace and helping colleagues keep the operation running smoothly.

Working Hours

You will work 5 days out of 7 on one of the following shifts:

  • Early Shift: 08:00-18:00.

  • Late Shift: 12:00-22:00, with an additional £1 per hour uplift for shifts finishing after 19:00.

Shift swaps and requests are available, offering some flexibility around personal commitments.

Pay, Benefits and Perks

  • £14.20 per hour basic pay.

  • 25% pick and pack bonus, paid monthly once you become permanent after 3 months.

  • £100 monthly attendance bonus.

  • Additional £1 per hour late-shift uplift for shifts finishing after 19:00.

  • Hot drinks provided during shifts.

  • Free on-site parking.

  • Social events throughout the year.

Training and Career Progression

Year 1 * Complete full Servicer training and work independently. * Keep every packer supplied so they never have to leave their desk. * Build a strong understanding of stock, replenishment and Goods Out flow. Years 2-3 * Support training of new Servicers. * Broaden your skills across picking and packing.
