We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Shunter / Warehouse Operative to join their busy warehouse team in South Shields.
This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity for an experienced shunter looking for a varied, hands‑on role. You'll play a key part in supporting both warehouse and transport operations, with approximately
50-60% of your shift spent shunting HGVs and the remainder carrying out warehouse duties.
Working with a fleet of
23 drays (20-tonne trailers) , you'll be responsible for moving vehicles safely and efficiently around the site while also assisting with the loading, unloading, and handling of keg products.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely shunt HGV drays around the site as required.
- Position vehicles and trailers safely and efficiently to support warehouse operations.
- Load and unload full and empty kegs.
- Carry out general warehouse duties, including stock movement and housekeeping.
- Complete daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and site policies.
- Work as part of a team to achieve daily operational targets.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as an HGV Shunter is essential.
- Experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable.
- A safety‑conscious, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to carry out manual handling duties, including moving full and empty kegs.
- Flexibility to work night shifts and overtime when required.
