Temporary / Agency Opportunity

The Best Connection are currently seeking an experienced Lawn Care Operative / Landscape Operative on behalf of my client, who requires temporary support throughout September and October.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced Lawn Care Operative or Landscape Operative who enjoys working outdoors and has experience in lawn care, grounds maintenance, landscaping or horticultural work.

Please note: this is NOT a grass-cutting role. The work focuses on treating and improving lawns to encourage greener, healthier grass.

The role

As a Landscape Operative, you will carry out a variety of lawn care and mechanical treatments across the Richmond and Durham areas, including:

  • Applying lawn treatments using a knapsack sprayer.
  • Applying treatments to control weeds, moss, insects and lawn diseases.
  • Applying fertiliser and autumn moss-control treatments.
  • Aerating compacted lawns to allow air, water and nutrients to reach the roots.
  • Carrying out scarification to remove thatch and improve lawn health.
  • Using mechanical scarifier machines safely and effectively.
  • Raking and clearing grass, moss and thatch following scarification.
  • Overseeding bare and thin areas with new grass seed.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

September & October work

The Lawn Care Operative will be primarily involved in autumn lawn renovation work throughout the Richmond and Durham areas, including:

  • Aeration
  • Scarification
  • Overseeding
  • Autumn lawn treatments
  • Moss control
  • Fertiliser applications
  • General lawn renovation

The ideal candidate

The ideal Landscape Operative will have previous experience in lawn care, grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture or similar outdoor work.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

PA1 and PA6 qualifications would be a fantastic advantage, particularly for a Lawn Care Operative with previous experience applying professional lawn treatments.

You should also be:

  • Experienced using a knapsack sprayer.
  • Confident using mechanical equipment such as a scarifier.
  • Physically fit and happy working outdoors.
  • Comfortable with manual work, including raking and clearing lawns.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Able to follow instructions and work safely.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Transport to work

My client is based in Richmond and travels to different jobs throughout the Richmond and Durham areas each day.

The team meets in Richmond at 7:30am each morning and travels together to the day's work in company vans.

There is no requirement for the temporary worker to drive the company van, as transport to and from the jobs will be provided.

If you are an experienced Landscape Operative with a full UK driving licence, have experience using a knapsack sprayer and scarifier, and are comfortable with the physical side of lawn care, we would love to hear from you.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lawn Care Operative looking for temporary work during the busy autumn period.

Candidates with PA1 and PA6 qualifications are particularly encouraged to apply.
