Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Vertical Boring Milling (VBM / Tracer) Operator. Unlike high-volume production environments, no two jobs are the same. This role offers varied and interesting work, machining bespoke components and engineering solutions for specialist customer requirements. This is a hands-on role suited to an individual who can confidently interpret engineering drawings, set and operate machinery, and machine components to high standards within a skilled engineering environment.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience operating Vertical Boring Milling (VBM / Tracer) machinery
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
- Experience within a bespoke, jobbing, or low-volume engineering environment preferred
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and precision standards
- Experience machining a range of materials and large-scale components
- Ability to carry out machine set-up, tooling changes, and adjustments to specification
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Flexible, reliable, and team-oriented approach

Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Proven experience operating VBM / Tracer machinery (essential)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (essential)
- Engineering or machining qualifications advantageous but not essential
- Experience within machining, fabrication, or precision engineering preferred
Working Conditions
- Workshop-based engineering environment
